Lee Ridley joins judging panel

27 Nov 2020

We are thrilled to announce, in no particular order, our Grand Final 2020 VIP judges who will be joining the event live via Zoom on December 1st. We’ll be sharing who they are one by one so that you can get to know them and learn what they will be looking for in our Grand Finalists’ speeches.

Lee Ridley, otherwise known as the Lost Voice Guy, is a comedian and winner of Britain’s Got Talent.

We asked Lee, in your experience, what does it mean to find your voice?

“I believe that there are many ways to find your voice. Not only did I literally have to find my voice when I got my first communication aid, I feel that I’ve also found my voice by doing stand up comedy. It’s where I feel most comfortable and where I feel that people finally want to listen to me.”

Why is empowering young people important to you?

“It’s important because the world is in quite a mess at the moment and these are the people who can help sort it out. Only by encouraging them to follow their dreams and do their best in life will this be able to happen.”

What does communication mean to you?

“Seeing as I’m without an actual voice, communication is everything to me. I’ve experienced first hand what it’s like to not to be able to communicate, so I know how important good communication is.”

And finally, thinking about our young speakers, how can they provoke the change they want to see in the world?

“They’ll only be able to make change if they believe in themselves and believe that they can make a difference. That’s why events like this are so important, because it enables young people to develop many different skills that they’ll need over their lifetime.”

Join us at the Grand Final, we will be live streaming the event from 6pm on Tuesday 1st December. Register to attend using the link below.
