Robyn Richford judges Grand Final

27 Nov 2020

We are thrilled to announce, in no particular order, our Grand Final 2020 VIP judges who will be joining the event live via Zoom on December 1st. We’ll be sharing who they are one by one so that you can get to know them and learn what they will be looking for in our Grand Finalists’ speeches.

Robyn Richford is a TV and Radio presenter, best known for her work every Saturday and Sunday morning on ITV’s Scrambled, her breakfast control show on Fun Kids Radio and SkyOne’s What’s Up TV.

We asked Robyn, in your experience, what does it mean to find your voice?

“Finding your voice to me is when you say what you believe and believe what you say. When you get to this point you’ll be unstoppable!”

Why is empowering young people important to you?

“Never mind us empowering young power they empower us. They are full of life and possibility and it’s our job to nurture and guide them to step into their power. You got this, I believe in you!”

What does communication mean to you?

“Communication? Make them laugh, make them cry, make them feel. It’s the base of human connection. It’s the gateway to the good, the bad but most importantly the excitement. Nothing was ever achieved, solved or invented without any communication with another.”

And finally, thinking about our young speakers, how can they provoke the change they want to see in the world?

“It’s cliche (so buckle up) but you have to be the change you want to see. In my experience the best way to impact people and see a change is not to tell them what’s best – it’s to live it. When you can communicate from a real place and from the view point of having lived it, then you see the magic happen. Be patient! (Also I find a bit of charm and a laugh always goes a long way) My favourite quote is by Maya Angelou: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, forget what you did but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Join us at the Grand Final, we will be live streaming the event from 6pm on Tuesday 1st December. Register to attend using the link below.
