Meet our latest Alumni Ambassadors!
Despite this being a challenging year for everyone, our Alumni Ambassadors group continue to meet virtually throughout the year. This group is composed of young speakers whom have taken part in the “Speak Out” Challenge! with the aim of sharing their experience on every aspect of the programme from in-school workshops through to the Grand Final. Their purpose is to help shape improvements for the future young people that will participate in the “Speak Out” Challenge!.
Maitri Nori represented Orleans Park School at the 2018-19 “Speak Out” Challenge! Richmond Regional Final where she was crowned winner with a speech entitled ‘A Change of View’. Maitri explains; “It was about my experience during my move between countries and how change is beneficial.”
Maitri has embraced her “Speak Out” Challenge! platform. Since her Grand Final, she has attended an insight day to Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University , acted as co-MC at our first ever Digital Grand Final in December 2020 and of course, become a Speakers Trust Alumni Ambassador.
We asked Maitri, what attracted you to becoming an Alumni Ambassador? Her response was joyful;
“The Speak Out Challenge was a pivotal moment in my life, and to have an opportunity to input my thoughts and suggestions regarding the competition is very valuable to me..”
And how would you like your involvement to impact the programme or other young people?
“I hope for the next competitors in the Speak Out Challenge to gain just as much from it as I did, if not more, and that our discussions facilitate further improvement within the program”
