Introducing Alumni Ambassador Manahil Uddin!

Manahil Uddin represented Oaks Park High School at the Redbridge Regional Final in 2022-23. Her speech, ’Thrive with Self Confidence’, saw her take top spot at the Redbridge Regional Champion.

Manahil is now part of our Alumni Ambassadors Group which is composed of young speakers who have taken part in the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge with the aim of sharing their experience of every aspect of the programme from in-school workshop through to the Grand Final. Their purpose is to help shape improvements for the future young people that will participate in Jack Petchey’s Speak Out Challenge.

Since 2023, Manahil has taken part in various Speakers Trust events including a visit to Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, a reception at Westminster Palace and has acted as Student MC at the Redbridge Regional Final in 2024.  We interviewed Manahil while visiting Cambridge University and her words really stuck with us “I was the shyest in my class, I couldn’t speak in front of even ten people.  So when I got chosen for the Regional Final, it was one of the best things that ever happened to me.   I now know I can speak in front of people and make a change if I want to.”
