Introducing Alumni Ambassador Fizza Zaidi!
Fizza Zaidi represented Henrietta Barnett School at the Barnet Regional Final in 2018-19. Her speech, ’Why Can’t You See Us?’, took her to the Grand Final. “My speech was about representation and diversity within Film, TV and Media, particularly that of South Asians, as it is a topic very close to my heart.”
Fizza is now part of our Alumni Ambassadors Group which is composed of young speakers who have taken part in the “Speak Out” Challenge! with the aim of sharing their experience of every aspect of the programme from in-school workshop through to the Grand Final. Their purpose is to help shape improvements for the future young people that will participate in “Speak Out” Challenge!
Since the 2019 Grand Final, Fizza has taken part in various Speakers Trust events including a visit to Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, a reception at Westminster Palace and has even jointly hosted the Grand Final 2020 live from Camberwell Studios, London.
Through her ongoing involvement with the programme, Fizza hopes to;
“Provide some insight into the experience of the “Speak Out” Challenge! from the perspective of a student and perhaps act as a bridge between student and trainer, helping it become both as effective and fun as possible.”
She adds, “Particularly with the challenges COVID-19 has provided, the programme has moved largely online, and I would like to help develop and improve the online experience, keeping the spirit of the programme I enjoyed so much.”
