Corpus Christi tour with the Regional Champions 2023-24

“It was amazing, the tour of the college was a real eye opener; going to state school, they do not talk to us about these kind of university choices until much later (if at all) so it was so great to get a feel of what applying/ studying/ living in campus is like”.
On Wednesday 30th of October, Regional Champions of the Jack Petchey’s Speak Out Challenge of 2023-24 toured the campus of Corpus Christi, University of Cambridge.
The tour began with Jess and Jack, two undergraduate students at Corpus, showing our youngest Alumni around the campus, discovering the history and beauty of the Old Court, New Court, and Library Court. Amongst the fun facts, we had: 1) it is the only college in Cambridge founded by townspeople, and 2) oldest coconut in the world is stored in the campus’ oldest library!
“It was perfectly organised, it was very informative and the experience itself, the beautiful campus and welcoming energy, overall magical!”
The experience continued with a lecture by Dr. Sarah Fine on the principles of democracy, which drove a lot of our Alumni to debate!
“The highlight of my day was listening to the undergraduates share their experiences: we asked questions about A-levels and uni life, balancing uni work, work and life, and it was so valuable to hear this first-hand.”
For most of the Alumni, the highlight of the day included the conversation with Soraya, Alex and Harley, three undergraduate students at Corpus Christi, where the Alumni got to ask questions and the uni students shared their experience of what life is like on campus, talking about time management and balancing your personal and work life, the A-level to university transition, what their interview experience was like, and more! All the Regional Champions left that session feeling excited about their future prospects, and reassured after having spoken to the undergrads.
We would like to thank Admissions & Outreach Coordinator, James Davies-Warner, for opening the doors of the college every year and welcoming our Alumni with open arms and curiosity. We look forward to seeing you next year!
