Alumni visit to Westminster

On Friday 29th March, a group of “Speak Out” Challenge! of 2017-18 Regional Champions attended a reception at the Houses of Parliament hosted by Andy Slaughter, MP for Hammersmith. We were joined by Russell Findlay, CEO, Speakers Trust and Gemma Juma, Operations Director, Jack Petchey Foundation plus a handful of Speakers Trust Trustees.

Maddie Parker, Hammersmith & Fulham Regional Champion and Runner-up at the Grand Final shared her journey throughout the challenge and Erin Stoner, 2017-18 Grand Final Champion thanked Speakers Trust and the Jack Petchey Foundation.

Then the fun began…instead of the expected tour of the Houses of Parliament, we were evacuated from the building due to the protests going on outside! The students were brilliant and complied with instructions from security staff meaning we left the building and the area safely.

Definitely a day that no one will forget in a hurry!
